Membership

At FBC Oloh we hold Church Membership in high regard as we believe that the Bible does as well. Our desire is for our members to be biblically functioning members and serving God’s church as it is a key part of their sanctification.

Applicants for membership must be recommended by the Pastors for admission and accepted by a vote of the members present at a regularly scheduled Members Meeting.

Requirements FBC Oloh has for membership:

1

You must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

The church is the body of Christ. As the church is described in this manner, one must be born again in order to be a member of the church.
2

You must have professed your faith in Christ through believer’s baptism by immersion.

We require members to have experienced believer’s baptism by immersion as we see throughout the Gospels. Within the Gospels, we see that water baptism by immersion always followed a profession of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Jesus Himself was baptized by immersion by John the Baptist. Jesus commands believers to bear public witness of their identification with Him by being baptized. Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is a beautiful retelling of the Gospel story.
3

You must have completed the Prospective Members class.

The Prospective Members Class exists to inform prospective members of the history, vision, beliefs, and core values of FBC Oloh. It is important to know about the church as well as what they expect out of their membership before joining with a congregation.
4

You must meet individually with one of the Pastors to verbalize your testimony and ask any further questions regarding membership at FBC Oloh.

We ask that you verbalize and write down your faith story (how and when you became of a follower of Jesus) to one of our Pastors. This will allow for you to hear the testimony of the Pastor you are meeting with, as well as him having the opportunity to hear yours. This also provides an opportunity to have any remaining questions answered regarding membership or FBC Oloh.
